Welcome to Danish Sea Rescue Society (DSRS)

Danish Sea Rescue Society (DSRS) aims to assist recreational sailors who need help in not life-threatening situations at sea. It can typically involve grounding problems, motor stops and so on. DSRS can assist government rescue system (Søværnets Operative Kommando - SOK) when they need it - but if so it is always on SOK's initiative - and under command of SOK.

DSRS is not a competitor of the government rescue system - but an adequate and economically attractive complement for recreational sailors.

In Denmark the organization is still in an early stage. There are currently established local rescue stations of DSRS in Helsingoer and Kerteminde with a range of up to 10 miles around each port. A lot of work is done to establish more stations of DSRS in the coming years. The goal is 10 rescue stations scattered among the largest ports in 2012.

DSRS is part of the Nordic network of sea rescue societies. Rescue stations in Sweden and Norway can be found at the www.ssrs.se and www.nssr.no. Membership of the DSRS is simultaneously membership of the corresponding maritime rescue companies in Sweden, Norway, Finland and the Aland Islands - a membership of DSRS give you asces for free help to towing if the accident has happened - and you're in Swedish or Norwegian waters.

Membership costs 550kr. per. calendar year. Your membership contribute so DSRS can operate and develop activities for the benefit of recreational sailors. The effort is based on unpaid work. The tasks performed by volunteers affiliated ports. The company also operated the funds donated by businesses and individuals.
